U.S. dollar edges down


NEW YORK, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell modestly in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was down 0.02 percent at 90.7500.

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.2078 U.S. dollars from 1.2079 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3586 dollars from 1.3581 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar decreased to 0.7680 U.S. dollar from 0.7709 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 103.68 Japanese yen, lower than 103.86 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8907 Swiss franc from 0.8910 Swiss franc, and it increased to 1.2752 Canadian dollars from 1.2728 Canadian dollars.
