CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- British pair Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat dominated the mixed doubles curling competition after winning all seven of their round-robin games so far at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
After beating the United States 6-4 at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium on Saturday, Mouat said their unbeaten run "was not easy."
"We're working really hard to get those seven wins. Every single team that we've played has been amazing, and we just had to fight for every inch. That's what curling is," Mouat said.
Asked whether they would ease up in their final two round-robin games after having already secured a spot in the next phase, Mouat said, "No, we're not going to ease up. We're going to try and keep the momentum rolling."
Defending champion Italy and the United States are tied for second place, both with four wins and two losses, while Sweden sits fourth with four wins and three losses.
Italy's Amos Mosaner admitted he struggled to adapt to changes in the ice conditions and stones after Italy suffered a 9-4 defeat to Sweden.
"Last night they made some changes to the ice and the stones, and we went from a slow pace to a more normal one. I struggled a bit to manage the speed because the ice was two seconds faster than yesterday, but that's just how it is. We have to accept it," Mosaner said.
Despite the loss, Stefania Constantini remained optimistic. "The positive thing is that we were below our usual level and we lost, which means that if we raise our level, and I'm sure it will happen. I'm very confident we will do well," Constantini said as Italy later edged Norway 6-5.
Fifth-ranked Canada and Switzerland both have three wins and three losses.
Beijing 2022 runner-up Norway is tied for seventh place with Estonia, both with a record of two wins and four losses. The Czech Republic and South Korea have each collected one victory from six games.
The mixed doubles final is scheduled for February 10, followed by the men's tournament from February 11-21 and the women's competition on February 12-22.
