Six Mongolia provinces likely to experience severe winter

ULAN BATOR, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least six of Mongolia's provinces are likely to experience extreme wintry weather -- known as "dzud" -- this winter, local media reported Friday, citing the country's Food and Agriculture Ministry.

"At least six of all 21 provinces of Mongolia, namely Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai in the center, Bayankongor in the south-west, Govi-Altai in the west, as well as Dundgovi and Umnugovi in the south, are likely to experience dzud or near-dzud conditions this winter," the ministry said in a statement.
