WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is warning of chaos if he were to step down, but U.S. counter-terrorism efforts are expected to weather unrest aimed at ending his 30-year rule.
Past and present U.S. counter-terrorism officials see opportunities as well as challenges from Egypt's massive anti-government protests, even if it means that a longtime U.S. ally in the war against al Qaeda leaves power.
