Canada Liberals push unity issue; scandal returns

COTEAU-DU-LAC, Quebec/OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin played the emotional unity card on the first full day of his re-election bid on Wednesday but his message was soon overshadowed by the patronage scandal that brought down his Liberal government. 

The scandal of how some Liberal organizers in Quebec funneled money to pro-Liberal firms has boosted support for the separatist Bloc Quebecois, a federal party that wants independence for the French-speaking province.
