A ONE-MINUTE video went viral on social media on Sunday (Dec 28) showing what appeared to be the aftermath of a dramatic collision at the Overhead Ayer Keroh Rest and Service area.

The footage revealed three damaged vehicles parked on the slip road leading to the heavy vehicles parking area, with bystanders attempting to move the cars out of the way as a traffic jam formed behind them.

Did a trailer truck really crash into a row of improperly parked cars at the popular rest stop?

Verdict:

Police are investigating an incident involving a trailer truck that allegedly crashed into three vehicles that were improperly parked at the Overhead Ayer Keroh Rest and Service area.

Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar, when contacted, confirmed the incident, adding that the investigation is being handled by the Bukit Aman Highway Investigation Unit.

"Further investigation into the accident, involving a heavy vehicle truck and three private cars, is ongoing," he said.

The viral video showed three vehicles parked on the slip road leading up to the heavy vehicles parking area being damaged after a trailer truck attempted to pass them to reach the heavy vehicles parking section of the Ayer Keroh R&R.

In the video, it can be seen that the parked vehicles had caused a jam at the R&R as they prevented lorries from entering.

Bystanders could also be seen trying to move the parked vehicles out of the way.
