Users of the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) were shocked by an accident involving two lorries at Kilometre 425.15 northbound near the Telemong–Kuala Terengganu route in the early hours of Tuesday (Oct 21).
Kuala Terengganu COPD ACP Azli Mohd Noor said the incident, which occurred at approximately 4.10am, involved a lorry carrying seafood including crabs and another lorry transporting courier goods.
According to him, preliminary investigations found that a lorry carrying courier goods had rear-ended the seafood lorry that was travelling in the left lane.
"As a result of the collision, the lorry carrying the seafood skidded onto the road shoulder and hit the metal barrier before both vehicles came to a stop in the left lane," he said when contacted on Tuesday.
He said all drivers and passengers of both lorries involved, who were local men, did not suffer any injuries.
The accident also caused damage to highway assets including metal road barrier beams, posts, connectors and two barrier strips on the road shoulder.
"Traffic at the location is moving smoothly although the left lane and emergency lane are temporarily closed for cleaning works," he said.
