QuickCheck: Did a car fall into a stream in Perak?

In the scenic yet winding roads in the jungles of Perak, driving can sometimes turn into an unexpected adventure.

This is especially so when rain turns roads into slippery slides, which can lead to accidents if drivers are unfortunate.

Recently, a video went viral along with a claim that a car slid into a stream on the road between Tapah and Cameron Highlands.

Is it true that such an incident actually happened?

VERDICT:

TRUE

A man in his 40s sustained minor injuries when the car he was in fell off a road and slid into a stream along Jalan Tapah-Cameron Highlands.

Tapah OCPD Supt Johari Yahya reported that the man was driving down the road before the incident occurred on Sunday (May 18) at about 10.30pm.

"The vehicle had skidded off the road due to the slippery road. The man only had minor injuries and a report was lodged on Monday (May 19)," he said in a statement.

A video of the car that had landed in a stream near a waterfall has gone viral on social media.
