Kulai OCPD Supt Tan Seng Lee said police have arrested seven men to help with an investigation following a case of a man being beaten at the roadside of a petrol station near the Senai International Airport.

He said the incident occurred at 1.30pm on Monday (Oct 7) and the victim, a 39-year-old man, had lodged a report right after the incident.

“A team of police then conducted a follow-up between 8pm on Monday and 12.30am on Tuesday (Oct 8) where seven men, aged between 25 and 40, were arrested.

“We have also confiscated two vehicles, four mobile phones, and two rattan sticks,” he said in a statement.

Supt Tan added that the initial investigation revealed that the fight had occurred due to a misunderstanding between the victim and another suspect who is still at large.

“A background check also revealed that four of the suspects have priors involving crimes and drugs.

“All of them are currently under remand from Oct 8 until Oct 11 to help with the investigation,” he said.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.
