ATTENTION is always drawn whenever a property is splashed with red paint, and this is especially so when it is a business; questions tend to be raised given the link between red paint splashing and loan sharks and as such, news of such instances tends to go viral fast.

It was claimed recently that a nasi kandar outlet in Bukit Mertajam, Penang was splashed with red paint, and a video of the incident went viral online?

Did this incident really happen as seen in the viral video?

TRUE

This was confirmed by Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Helmi Aris, who said that the incident happened on April 25 at a two-story shoplot that has yet to be operational.

"The police are tracking three men who splashed red paint at a nasi kandar restaurant at Taman Machang Bubok, Bukit Mertajam," he said.

ACP Helmi added that efforts to track the three men are underway and said that the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
