WHENEVER photos of child abuse are uploaded to social media, they tend to go viral quickly due to the shocking nature of such cruelty.
Recently, two photos purporting to be of recent child abuse made the rounds online. Are these graphic photos showing the wounds sustained by two young boys being abused actually fresh, as claimed?

These photos are in fact from 2019, according to Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat.
He said that the two photos of the pair of boys is actually from a case of child abuse that ran from the middle of June 2016 to Feb 2019 at a block of flats in the Johor area.
"The case was investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 and the two suspects were the mother of the children and their stepfather," said ACP Raub.
He added that both accused were found guilty and then sentenced to a two-year jail term followed by a three-year good behaviour bond.
"Both suspects had to also perform 48 hours of community service. The sentence was handed down by the Johor Baru Sessions Court on Feb 26, 2019," said ACP Raub.
