IF ANYTHING out of the ordinary happens these days, chances are a video recording will be made of the incident – what more when it takes place in a busy commercial and tourist area.

People whipping out their phones can be a good thing, especially as proof to be used in disputes.

Recently, a video clip went viral showing a brawl in front of a fast food restaurant premises.

It was said that this happened in Kuala Lumpur's bustling Jalan Bukit Bintang.

Did this really happen as claimed?

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the incident took place in front of a restaurant at about 8.30pm on Sunday (Feb 4).

"We opened investigations for rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code and arrested five individuals, four local men in their 20s and a 33-year-old foreign man," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 6).

He said checks found that the incident was sparked by a misunderstanding between the restaurant's woman manager and the foreigner.

"The foreigner allegedly disturbed the woman," he said, adding that the four locals were remanded for one day while the foreigner was remanded for four days until Friday (Feb 9).

"Investigations are still ongoing and we advise the public to not be a part of illegal activities like this," he said.
