QuickCheck: Did a kidnapping case happen at a petrol station in Pasir Gudang?

A video showing a teenage girl allegedly being kidnapped at a petrol station in Masai, Pasir Gudang, has gone viral on social media. Did such an incident really happen, as claimed?

Verdict:

FALSE

Seri Alam district police chief Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak has denied claims that a teenage girl was abducted at a petrol station in Masai, Pasir Gudang, as alleged in a Facebook post.

He said investigations revealed that the 13-year-old girl had been on an outing with school friends and was back home safely at 4.30pm on the same day.

"There was no such incident, and the account holder (who posted the video) had also removed the post,” he said in a statement on Monday night (Nov 21).

Supt Mohd Sohaimi also advised the public not to resort to speculations that could lead to misunderstandings among the public.

A video on the alleged incident was uploaded by account holder 'Quyn Bohay' on the Komuniti Bandar Seri Alam Facebook account before it was removed later.
