QuickCheck: Is there a secret way to withdraw your EPF savings using a 'medical scheme'?

GIVEN how important the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is to Malaysians, with many people holding an account with the fund, it is reasonable to say that any claim of a new technique for withdrawals would go viral rapidly – regardless of whether it is true or not.

Recently, a poster claiming that EPF contributors can withdraw money from their accounts for their personal use through a “medical scheme” along with a number to contact through WhatsApp went viral.

Is there any truth to this?

VERDICT:

FALSE

EPF responded to this with a poster on their Facebook page, saying that this is in fact false.

“Be careful. Get credible information from the EPF's official website and social media accounts. For further information, head to https://www.kwsp.gov.my/ms/reach-us/social-media,” said EPF.
