RECENTLY, a WhatsApp message has gone viral alleging that a motorcyclist in Kluang, Johor fell off his vehicle after passing out from heat exhaustion.
The message then claimed that he was brought to a hospital where he died of heatstroke.
Is this true?
According to a statement released by Kluang police, a man was found by the side of the road in Kluang but he did not die of a heatstroke and he was not on a motorcycle.
"From our investigation, we found that the victim was a 56-year-old man who worked as a medical officer at the Ladang Tereh Paloh Health Clinic in Kluang," said Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh in the statement.
"The victim was found alone in his car which was by the side of Jalan Taman Seri Impian.
"His body was brought to the Emergency Unit of Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom. It was later confirmed that the cause of death was a heart attack and not heatstroke," he added.
ACP Bahrin then urged the public not to speculate on the case as this could lead to confusion, and to contact the nearest police station if they had any relevant information to share.
