QuickCheck: Did a Facebook post lead to a person being arrested in Melaka?


EARLIER this week, it was claimed online that a man was arrested for reckless driving in Masjid Tanah, Melaka following a Facebook post about a motorist revving his car loudly and driving in a dangerous manner. Did this really happen?

A Facebook post about a reckless driver in Masjid Tanah town led to the detention of a 24-year-old eatery owner.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said the man was also found to be driving without a valid licence and road tax as well as being under the influence of drugs.

“The car was also found to have been illegally modified while a urine test on the man came back positive (for drugs),” he said on Monday (Oct 3).

Supt Arshad said the man was remanded to assist investigations under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
