QuickCheck: Are scam callers pretending to be from a certain ministry to defraud people?

UNSCRUPULOUS individuals claiming to be representatives of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry have been calling people to target them with scams. Is this true?



The Communications and Multimedia Ministry posted a warning to the public on their social media pages to be wary of people contacting them and claiming to be representing the ministry.

It advised the public to be careful when giving out their personal details and to call the police if they believe they have been targeted by scammers.

The public can also call the Commercial Crime Investigation Department Scam Response Centre at 03-2610 1559 or 03-2610 1599 if they suspect they are a victim of fraud.
