QuickCheck: Are fake driving licences being sold by syndicates via social media?

ADVERTISEMENTS on Instagram have been circulating saying that you can buy an approved driving licence without having to sit for either the highway code and driving tests.

Are these ads true?

Verdict:

FALSE

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has branded the ads as fake news in a post on their Facebook page.

The advertisements claim that individuals can use their services to obtain a driving licence within three days without having to sit for the computerised highway code and driving tests.

JPJ said it takes the matter seriously and would investigate.

The department went on to say that it would also be making reports with the police as well as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

JPJ advised the public not to fall for such claims and to contact its nearest office for any inquiries.
