TRUE

KOTA KINABALU: The decomposing body of a woman was found behind a petrol station at Tebobon on Thursday (Aug 11), says Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Zaidi Abdullah.

He said that the body was found lying on the ground, adding that it had begun to decompose by the time it was found at 10.15am lying in an old hut about 500m away from a petrol station.

“A team from the Menggatal police station and forensics team from the state police contingent went to the scene," said ACP Zaidi.

“Based on her condition, her death is believed to have occurred more than three days ago,” he added, saying that the woman is believed to be in her 50s.

However, the identity of the woman has yet to be determined.

ACP Zaidi said that the investigation showed the woman was living at the hut, adding that no criminal elements were found in the death.

The woman has yet to be identified.

“Inspections of surrounding areas found squatter houses suspected to be part of an immigrant community, but interviews with several residents did not bear any fruit as they all claimed not to know the deceased," said ACP Zaidi.

“The body has been sent to the forensics unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for post-mortem and an investigation is ongoing to identify the deceased and locate her family members,” Zaidi added.
