QuickCheck: Was a dog painted to look like a tiger during CNY to scare neighbours?

A viral message has been circulating with pictures of a dog painted to look like a tiger. The message claims that the dog's owner from Negri Sembilan had painted the dog on the eve of Chinese New Year - which is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac - and let the pooch roam around scaring people. Is this true?

The viral photos received a lot of reaction from people online in the Philipines and were even picked up by the Malaysia Animal Association, who posted the images on their Facebook page on Aug 28, 2020.
