QuickCheck: Was a person attacked at a shopping complex as seen in a viral video

EARLIER this week, a video of a person being hit and kicked went viral on social media.

It was claimed that this happened in a shopping complex, is this true?

In a statement on Tuesday (Dec 18), Ipoh OCPD ACP Yahaya Hassan said the police came across the video that had gone viral after it was posted by a Facebook account holder identified as "Melvin Zheng Wenxin".

"A police report has been lodged and we are tracking down all the individuals involved in the incident to help with the investigation," he said.

The case was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 233 of the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 for misusing network facilities and services.

"The public has been urged not to speculate on the case as it could jeopardise police investigation," he said
