TAIPEH: Taiwan's leader Tsai Ing-wen wants to strengthen ties with the United States and Japan as she received representatives from both countries on Sunday (Jan 12), one day after she was re-elected on a local policy platform.

Voters came out in force for Tsai, who gained 57.1% of the ballot to gain a second and final four-year term for her independence-leaning Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
