CHINA, which practises strict one-child policy, is mulling over a new legislation to jail doctors who perform selective abortions or expose the gender of the baby for non-medial purposes.
The harsher law may come into being following a call by the standing committee of the National People's Congress which wants a new clause to the criminal law to ban selective abortion and foetal gender identification for non-medical reasons.
