MANILA: Philippine President Gloria Arroyo vowed yesterday to crush the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf after the group claimed three Valentine's Day bombings which killed 12 people and left 145 injured.
The authorities also stepped up security around airports, ports, bus terminals, shopping malls and foreign embassies after Monday's attacks in Manila and the southern cities of General Santos and Davao.
