Chinese businesswoman beaten up by US guard


BEIJING: A Chinese businesswoman has been severely beaten by a US border inspection guard, who is now facing criminal charges, state media reported yesterday.  

Robert Rhodes was charged on Friday with civil rights violations after the Wednesday beating of 37-year-old Zhao Yan near Niagara Falls, said the China Daily, which showed a picture of Zhao's face covered in bruises.
