MANILA: Philippine security forces said yesterday they had foiled a plot by an al-Qaeda-linked South-East Asian terror group to bomb ceremonies marking President Gloria Arroyo's inauguration.
Counter-terrorist police units swooped on an eastern Manila Muslim community before dawn, detaining six men and seizing 5kg of explosives, Manila police director Chief Supt t Pedro Bulaong said.
