NEW DELHI: Stalwarts of India's ruling Congress party grabbed key posts yesterday in the government of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with the finance ministry in the hands of a free-marketeer, a statement said.
The new finance minister is Palaniappan Chidambaram, who when previously holding the post had won the praise of the financial world for lowering import tariffs and taxes.
