SEOUL: Tens of thousands of riot police stormed university campuses and other locations across South Korea yesterday to break up a railway workers' strike in what is seen as a new hardline tactic by the government.
It was the first time the leadership of President Roh Moo-Hyun, under criticism from businesses for perceived softness toward labour activism, had acted against illegal strikes since taking office in February.
