PETALING JAYA: Imagine experiencing snow, a luge run and a Borneo island escape without ever leaving the Klang Valley.

Star Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia (SKCCM) is making it possible as the latest edition opens at Sunway Pyramid from Friday to Sunday (Oct 23-25) – complete with holiday deals, hotel packages and family attractions from across the country into one big weekend, with lots of holidays to be won.

Visitors can look forward to lucky draws, stage games and interactive activities throughout the three days, with many prizes from participating tourism partners to go around.

Also up for grabs are domestic flight tickets from Batik Air, hotel and resort stays, holiday packages, theme park and attraction vouchers, shopping vouchers and local specialty products.

With every booth in this edition snapped up ahead of the event, visitors can expect more than 30 exhibitors to showcase promotions that are available only at the carnival.

Guests can compare holiday options, question operators directly and lock in event-only deals. With the year-end holidays around the corner, the timing is perfect.

Young families are in for a treat, as the SKCCM Selangor offers the widest line-up of theme parks and attractions in the entire series.

Thrill-seekers can seek offers from Skyline Luge Kuala Lumpur, Berjaya Times Square Theme Park and the OWG Group, the attractions of which include Snow World and Wet World.

Curious young minds will find plenty to explore too, with Petrosains, the Chocolate Museum in Kota Damansara and Space & Time Cube Malaysia taking part.

Glory Pets and Ostrich Show Farm brings a dose of animal fun, while KL Hop-On Hop-Off has city sightseeing covered.

For those who love the great outdoors, glamping and skycamp retreats, canopy walks, rainforest adventures and eco-tourism trips complete this list, with Gopeng Glamping Park and Retreat & Skycamp Services among the operators taking part.

While city explorers can explore the urban jungle with an observation deck and skyline experiences, cultural and heritage attractions, and destination tours.

As the hosting state, Selangor gets its moment in the spotlight, with its award-winning agro-tourism park Selangor Fruit Valley in Rawang showcasing its tractor and tram rides, petting zoo, and fruit and vegetable picking.

If a proper getaway is what you are after, hotels and resorts from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Kedah and Johor will be offering stay promotions, family staycations, beach and island breaks, hillside and highland retreats, weekend packages and accommodation vouchers.

Among them are Lotus Desaru Beach Resort & Spa, Jerai Hills Resort, Bayu Balau Beach Resort, MU Hotel Ipoh and The Host Hotel.

For those who prefer to dream big, they can check out travel agencies such as Remarkable Borneo Travel and Tours, Semporna Paradise, Legend Vacations, Flywind Holidays, Rehlah Travel & Tours, Jupeter Holidays and Tanjak Adventure, which have packages covering island escapes, East Coast holidays, heritage city breaks and trips to Sabah and Sarawak, including group and customised tours.

Before leaving, visitors also can grab a slab of Sarawak kek lapis, along with souvenirs, lifestyle products and gift items to take home.

Organised by Star Media Group in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia, the carnival is held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 under the theme “Explore. Experience. Excite.”

Its tagline, “Destinasi Indah, Harga Rahmah”, sums up the idea: Beautiful destinations at prices that will not break the bank, while giving domestic travel and tourism spending a boost.

Selangor is the fifth stop of the six-state roadshow, which kicked off in Kuantan earlier in July. SKCCM has since visited Johor Baru, Kota Kinabalu and Penang.

Across all six stops, the series is expected to draw more than 200,000 visitors.

Those who missed the carnival this weekend or simply find it too far to attend can head to Kuching, on Oct 30 to Nov 1, where the carnival will eventually wrap up at Plaza Merdeka .

Those looking for great travel deals can round up their family, bring their holiday wish list along to Sunway Pyramid’s Orange Zone from Oct 23 to 25. Admission is free.
