MACC summons Nazir Hussin, wife and aide in RM10mil investment probe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has summoned Datuk Seri Nazir Hussin Akhtar Husin, his wife and an aide to assist in an investigation into alleged misappropriation and abuse of position involving an investment worth about RM10mil.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said Nazir was called in to receive a notice requiring him to declare his assets under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009, while his wife and aide had their statements recorded.

The notice and statement-recording sessions were carried out at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on Wednesday (Oct 14).

Abd Halim said Nazir, however, refused to accept the notice, citing an injunction application he had filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Tuesday (Oct 13) to prevent the enforcement of the directive under Section 36 of the Act.

“The recording of statements from Nazir’s wife and aide took one hour and 30 minutes.

“Nazir, his wife and aide arrived at the MACC at about 11am today, and his wife and aide were released at 1.15pm,” he said.
