DUNGUN: Former Terengganu state executive council (exco) member Roslee Daud passed away aged 66 at Dungun Hospital here at 5.14am on Monday (Oct 12).
His son Mohd Hazwan, 40, said his father complained of breathing difficulties while at their home in Bukit Besi around 4.30am and he was taken to the Bukit Besi Health Clinic and subsequently transferred to Dungun Hospital for further treatment.
However, he said medical officers confirmed his father had passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.
"My father's health had been declining since August, and he frequently sought treatment for a heart condition at Dungun Hospital and HSNZ (Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah)," he said when met by reporters at Dungun Hospital on Monday.
The deceased, who was also the former Bukit Besi assemblyman, suffered from heart disease and had undergone a coronary angioplasty procedure at HSNZ in Kuala Terengganu on Oct 1.
Roslee leaves behind a widow, Azizah Abd Kadir, 66, and nine children aged between 22 and 42. Mohd Hazwan said his father's remains would be laid to rest at the Bukit Besi Muslim Cemetery after Zohor prayers on Monday.
The former exco member was first elected as Bukit Besi assemblyman under Barisan Nasional in the 13th General Election (GE13) in 2013.
He was subsequently appointed as state executive councillor under the administration of the then-Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said and was named chairman of the entrepreneur, rural development, consumer affairs, and cooperatives committee.
In 2016, Roslee held the health, women, family, and community development portfolio. - Bernama
