Attendance at Conference of Rulers does not require invitation, clarifies Royal Household Comptroller

PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, was not invited to attend the Conference of Rulers simply because attendance does not require an invitation, says the Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Azizi Mohamad Ali.

Clarifying media reports published on Monday (Oct 12) claiming the Ruler had received an invitation, Azizi stated that attendance at the Conference of Rulers is not subject to formal invitations.

"Furthermore, Tuanku Muhriz has not received any letter or formal invitation from the Chairman of the Meeting, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak, to attend the Pre-Conference of Rulers Meeting," Azizi said in a statement on Monday.

He added that Tuanku Muhriz decided not to attend the conference to focus on state affairs, including the proclamation ceremony for the appointment of the new Undang of Jelebu.

"The Negeri Sembilan Palace also wishes to emphasise that the Palace has not previously issued any media statement on this matter to any party or media organisation," he noted.
