Myanmar President given official welcome at Perdana Putra

PUTRAJAYA: Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing was accorded an official welcome at the Perdana Putra Complex on Thursday (Oct 8) as part of his two-day official visit to Malaysia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received Min Aung Hlaing upon his arrival at 9am, accompanied by the playing of the national anthems of both nations.

Min Aung Hlaing subsequently inspected a guard of honour mounted by three officers and 103 personnel from the First Battalion, Royal Ranger Regiment, under the command of Major Muhammad Nur Addeen Mustaza.

Also present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, along with Cabinet members, foreign diplomats and senior government officials.

After signing the guest book, Min Aung Hlaing held a private meeting with Anwar, followed by a bilateral delegation session featuring key cabinet ministers and senior officials from both countries.

Discussions between the two leaders are slated to focus on the voluntary, safe, and dignified repatriation of Myanmar nationals residing illegally in Malaysia, as well as reviewing peace and stability efforts mediated through regional Asean mechanisms. – Bernama
