PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a four-eyed meeting with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing at Perdana Putra Complex here on Thursday (Oct 5).
The Prime Minister welcomed Min Aung Hlaing at the building at 9am, followed by an official welcoming ceremony.
Min Aung Hlaing has been on a two-day official visit since Wednesday (Oct 7), with the repatriation of Myanmar nationals in Malaysia among key issues to be discussed with the Malaysian Prime Minister.
Following the four-eyed meeting, both leaders proceeded to a delegation meeting.
Among the Cabinet ministers present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who was the minister-in-attendance.
Wisma Putra yesterday said the visit would also provide the Prime Minister with an opportunity to sustain his direct engagement with Myanmar, in line with the decision of the 48th Asean Summit in May 2026 to continue constructive and principled engagement with Myanmar.
It said Myanmar is an integral part of Asean, and Malaysia, as a fellow member state, will continue to support the bloc's efforts to promote peace, reconciliation and access to humanitarian assistance in the country.
Malaysia will also work closely with all Asean member states to ensure stability and prosperity in the region. – Bernama
