Mobile app introduces Malaysia's first multilingual voice fuelling experience

HOMEGROWN mobility app Setel today introduced “Voice Fuelling”, an AI-powered experience that lets users activate their fuel pump using voice commands.

Currently in beta stage, it builds on Setel’s One-tap Fuelling feature and supports English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin and Tamil, making everyday mobility more intuitive and accessible.

Designed for everyone, from everyday motorists and motorcyclists to fleet operators and e-hailing drivers, the feature also makes digital fuelling more approachable for those new to apps or who simply prefer speaking over tapping.

To help Malaysians get familiar with the experience, PETRONAS dealers and ground crew will support on-ground activations, introducing Voice Fuelling and helping customers get set up for a new purchasing experience.

Once Voice Fuelling is enabled on the Setel app, users can activate fuelling by simply stating their pump number, allowing Setel's artificial intelligence (AI) to process the transaction using their preferred payment method and fuelling preferences.

“At Setel, we have always believed technology should make everyday life a little easier, not give people more things to figure out. That is what inspired us to take fuelling beyond tapping a button and make it as simple as saying your pump number.

“Voice Fuelling is a good example of how we see AI making a difference in everyday moments. It is not about using technology for the sake of it, but about removing small frustrations and making an experience feel easier, more intuitive and more welcoming.

“Being able to speak in the language you are most comfortable with is a small but meaningful part of that, because technology feels more natural when you can simply use it in your own words.

“We hope Malaysians will give Voice Fuelling a try and experience the difference for themselves. For us, that is what #SetelUntukMalaysia means, using technology thoughtfully to solve everyday needs and make each journey a little easier,” said Setel chief executive officer Abdullah Ayman Awaluddin.

Abdullah shared that Voice Fuelling is about using technology thoughtfully to remove small frustrations and make each journey a little easier for Malaysians.

To welcome more Malaysians to Setel, new users can earn 5x Mesra Rewards points, capped at 500 points, when they download the app, register, verify their account and fuel a minimum of one litre.

The offer is valid once per user, is not limited to Voice Fuelling and applies to RON95, RON97 and Diesel, including BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel. Other terms and conditions apply.

Existing users can enjoy more savings, bonus points and value through “Setel Savers”, while “Refer a Friend” programme gives users a chance to earn Setel Credit and win prizes.

From October through the end of the year, the “Full Thank” campaign will continue as an extension of Setel’s ongoing one, alongside other promotions and rewards.
