Johor gazettes relocation land for Tamil schools

AFTER years of efforts, land for the relocation of SJK(T) Ladang Mados and SJK(T) Ladang Sembrong in Johor has finally been gazetted by the state, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Former state executive councillor and MIC state chairman Raven Kumar Krishnasamy said SJK(T) Ladang Mados, currently located in Ulu Tiram, has been allocated almost a hectare of land in Taman Pulai Utama, Skudai, for its relocation.

He added that SJK(T) Ladang Sembrong, located in Layang-Layang, will be relocated to a one-hectare plot in Taman Impian Emas.

Efforts to find alternative sites for the two schools began several years ago after student enrolment started to decline.

Raven Kumar said MIC, local Indian community leaders, school management and others had worked for several years to relocate the schools.

He thanked Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for gazetting the land for the schools, adding that Onn is scheduled to hand over the title deeds at the Johor MIC annual general meeting on Oct 11.
