Cops dismiss viral claim policeman was stabbed while on patrol in Bera

KUANTAN: Police have dismissed claims that one of their personnel was injured after being stabbed by an Orang Asli during patrols and safety monitoring around the Ramsar Permanent Forest Reserve in Tasik Bera, Bera.

The claim, which has been circulating on TikTok since Wednesday (Oct 7), is false and irresponsible, Bera OCPD Supt Zulkiflee Nazir said.

"Disseminating such content could not only cause public concern but also trigger a larger security incident that could spiral out of control.

"Several police reports have been received in connection with the viral issue, including from outside the district.

"The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 8).

Supt Zulkiflee advised the public not to spread any false or unverified content, particularly anything that could cause misunderstanding, hatred or negative perceptions towards any individual or community. – Bernama
