‘Late ex-MIC president’s legacy must live on’

THE life and work of former MIC president, the late Tan Sri V. Manickavasagam, must be recorded and passed on to future generations, says Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, reported Makkal Osai.

The MIC deputy president was speaking at the launch of a biography of Manickavasagam, written by local writer and lawyer Mutharasan Ramasamy.

Saravanan said that although Manickavasagam was MIC president for only six years, his contributions to the party and the Indian community were immense.

He said the people must ensure their leaders’ roles in developing the community and country are remembered, adding that books help preserve their legacy.

Mutharasan said the book was the result of extensive research, including interviews with 29 of Manickavasagam’s family members, friends and people who had worked with him.

Mutharasan hoped the book would bring the politician’s achievements and leadership to the attention of future generations.
