Cost-of-living among issues in focus for Budget 2027, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2027 Budget will continue to focus on easing the cost-of-living burden, protecting the people and creating opportunities, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday (Oct 7), he said a briefing session was held with media representatives on the direction and initiatives of the government ahead tabling of the budget on Friday (Oct 9).

He said the fifth Madani budget was underpinned by a clear determination to strengthen the country's economy and ensure economic growth translated into a better quality of life for the people.

"I realise that economic growth alone is not enough if there are still people facing the pressure of rising living costs," he said.

He also said Budget 2027 would continue to focus on efforts to ease the burden, protect the people, open opportunities and ensure that the benefits of development are felt more fairly.

"I will present all the details this Friday," he said.
