MUAR: A male local motorcyclist died after crashing into the rear of a stalled lorry at KM141.6 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) Southbound.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the incident took place at 8am on Tuesday (Oct 6).
“The victim was travelling from Seremban to Johor Baru and lost control of the motorcycle before hitting the back right side of the lorry,’’ he said in a statement.
ACP Raiz Mukhliz said the lorry had stopped on the left roadside shoulder near the Pagoh exit toll plaza.
He said the 21-year-old victim suffered severe head and leg injuries and was pronounced dead by a medical officer at the scene.
ACP Raiz Muhkliz said the victim’s body was brought to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar for autopsy and to determine the cause of death.
“The 48-year-old lorry driver, also a local, did not suffer any injuries. Urine and alcohol screening tests were conducted on him, and the results were negative,’’ he added.
ACP Raiz Mukhliz said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
