PETALING JAYA: A total of 31 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy air quality as at 6pm on Tuesday (Oct 6).
Based on data from the Environment Department's (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Batu Pahat, Johor recorded the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 197, followed by Nilai, Negri Sembilan (175) and Seremban, Negri Sembilan (172).
In Johor, Tangkak recorded an API reading of 172, while Segamat and Pasir Gudang were recorded at 171, followed by Kluang (167), Larkin (166), Kota Tinggi (162) and Pengerang (161).
In Negri Sembilan, aside from Nilai and Seremban, Port Dickson also recorded an unhealthy API reading of 156.
Putrajaya recorded an API reading of 168, while in Kuala Lumpur, Cheras (164) and Batu Muda (161) also recorded unhealthy API readings.

In Melaka, Bandaraya Melaka recorded 165, followed by Bukit Rambai (159) and Alor Gajah (158).
In Selangor, Johan Setia was the worst hit at 165, followed by Shah Alam (163), Petaling Jaya (159), Banting (159) and Klang recorded 155.
In Pahang, Jerantut recorded an API reading of 160, followed by Indera Mahkota Kuantan (160), Balok Baru Kuantan (157), Rompin (152) and Temerloh (152).
In Terengganu, Paka was at 157 while the reading at Kemaman was at 156.
Tanjung Malim in Perak recorded an API reading of 144.
According to the DOE, API readings between 101 and 200 are classified as unhealthy, while readings between 51 and 100 are considered moderate.
