Traders upset over unfair  bazaar stall allocations

THE planned annual Deepavali bazaar in Brickfields has been dragged into controversy over stalls allocations, Makkal Osai reported.

Traders have complained that an unregistered entity had been allocated 25 out of the 100 stalls planned for the upcoming bazaar.

They have urged Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud to intervene in the matter.

Nurul Abdullah, who has been conducting business in the area for 35 years, said one of the associations has not been formally registered yet.

Another trader identified as Dr Leela said many of the traders in Brickfields were not able to get stalls.

To find out that an unknown entity had secured an allocation was unacceptable, she said.

The minister and the mayor must ensure the allocations are made fairly, she and several other traders who spoke to the daily said.
