Melaka Polls: Bersatu runs under own logo, leaves door open for electoral pacts

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu will contest the Melaka state election under the party’s own banner, said its party secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (pic).

He said following a meeting chaired by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the party was also prepared to discuss and refine the form of cooperation or electoral pact for the state election.

“Bersatu will participate in the Melaka state election and would finalise the seats it would contest in the near future," he said in a statement Monday (Oct 5).

Azmin said the decision to establish an electoral pact was aimed at optimising the potential to ensure the stability and continuity of a moderate and progressive state government administration for the well-being of the people of the state.

He said the decision on Bersatu's participation in the elections was made after looking into various views and analyses during the meeting, as well as current political developments.

“We appeal to the people of Melaka to give Bersatu candidates the opportunity to represent the people’s voice, bring about genuine change and deliver direct benefits to all the people of Melaka,” he said.
