KUALA LUMPUR: The public is advised to remain vigilant against ticket touts taking advantage of world-class events being held in the country throughout October.
Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh (pic) said Malaysia will host several international events in October, including the Gulf Air Bahrain F1 Grand Prix Malaysia 2026.
She said MotoGP is also expected to take place at the end of October and many people are looking forward to experience the international motorsport event firsthand.
"I understand the public's excitement and some may even have been saving up in anticipation of this elite motorsport event, but do not let that excitement allow ticket touts to make huge profits by offering tickets at exorbitant prices.
"More worryingly, purchasing tickets through unofficial sellers could expose us to scams. Not only would we have to pay a high price, but the tickets could also be invalid, leaving us to bear the losses," she said in a Facebook post.
Fuziah reminded the public to check the organiser's official channels and purchase terms before making any payment and not to trust screenshots or advertisements outside the official channels.
"My advice is, let us return with sweet memories, rather than the regret of being scammed. Use our power as consumers by purchasing tickets through official channels to avoid becoming victims of ticket tout scams," she said. – Bernama
