Teen suspect in Kuala Pilah murder case further remanded

SEREMBAN: A Form Four student under investigation for allegedly murdering his 14-year-old schoolmate in a Kuala Pilah school has been remanded for another seven days.

Negri Sembilan CPO Dep Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said police applied to the Kuala Pilah Magistrate’s Court for a remand order to further detain the suspect on Thursday (Oct 1) morning.

"Police had to apply for an extension as the first remand order expired on Thursday.

"The court allowed this and the suspect will remain in custody until next Thursday," he said.

DCP Alzafny said to date, police have recorded statements from 70 individuals including teachers and other students.

He said the victim's parents, in their statements, had also said their son had never complained of being bullied in school.

Police detained the suspect last Friday after the victim was pronounced dead at the Kuala Pilah Hospital.

A preliminary probe revealed that the incident happened at the school hostel around 8pm on the same evening.

On Tuesday, police detained a second Form Four student to assist in investigations, who was remanded until Saturday.

Both suspects lived in the same hostel block as the 14-year-old victim.

Police believe the victim was assaulted after he was believed to have been caught vaping by a hostel warden last Wednesday.

Five students have since come forward to claim they had been bullied by the first suspect previously.

The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
