PUTRAJAYA: A total of 268,000 businesses have implemented e-invoicing, with nearly 1.9 billion e-invoices submitted for validation, says the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).
LHDN chief executive officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin said the figures reflected the latest progress in the phased national rollout of the e-invoice system.
"At this point, 268,000 taxpayers have joined the e-invoice programme," Abu Tariq told reporters after launching Bulan Hasil 2026 at IOI City Mall on Thursday (Oct 1).
He urged taxpayers who made errors in earlier submissions to utilise the Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme (PKPS) for e-invoicing to rectify their records.
"If there are any mistakes in the submission of e-invoices, taxpayers should take the opportunity provided under the PKPS e-invoice programme and come forward," he said, adding that LHDN remained ready to assist.
Under the PKPS e-invoice initiative, taxpayers can correct reporting errors without incurring financial penalties until Dec 31, 2027.
Abu Tariq highlighted that the threshold for Phase Four was recently raised from RM1mil to RM3mil in annual turnover, exempting smaller businesses.
"Those with business turnover below RM3mil do not need to implement e-invoice," he clarified.
He added that LHDN data showed business owners had already begun making voluntary corrections to previously submitted e-invoice data.
The e-invoice drive is central to Bulan Hasil 2026, held throughout October under the theme "Lapor Sukarela, Tanggungjawab Bersama", aimed at promoting voluntary tax compliance nationwide.
