KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is questioning why attention continues to be on Transport Minister Anthony Loke's resignation when there are more pressing issues to discuss.
The Prime Minister said Loke only submitted his resignation letter on Monday (Sept 28) and he had yet to discuss the matter with him.
"He only gave me the letter yesterday," Anwar said while officiating the Professional Conference & Exhibition 2026 (Profex 2026) at the KLGCC Convention Centre here on Tuesday (Sept 29), adding he had to rush off then to attend the funeral of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
Anwar then questioned why Loke's resignation had attracted so much attention when more serious issues, particularly corruption, deserved greater scrutiny.
"What is the problem with Anthony Loke? The problem is corruption. The problem is robbery and stealing public funds.
"Those issues are not being raised but people keep asking why this person resigned," he said.
Anwar also defended Loke's performance as Transport Minister.
"What is the problem with his work? His work is good. His performance as a minister is very good.
"That is why I will discuss it with him," Anwar said.
