SHAH ALAM: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is still waiting for Anthony Loke’s formal resignation letter, as the Transport Minister maintains his decision to quit the Cabinet.
“Still waiting for the letter,” the Prime Minister told reporters briefly after attending the UiTM alumni gathering in conjunction with UiTM’s 70th Anniversary here yesterday.
On Wednesday, Loke, who is also DAP secretary-general, said he would submit the letter to Anwar after returning from China, where he had accompanied the Prime Minister on his three-day working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou.
He offered to resign following a DAP central executive committee (CEC) meeting last week, after former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was granted a conditional pardon.
Loke said the other DAP ministers and deputy ministers would remain in the unity government.
Meanwhile, Anwar sidestepped questions on Perikatan Nasional’s suspension of activities by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), directing reporters to ask Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail about the matter.
Last Friday, the ROS clarified that the notice issued against Perikatan under subsection 13(2) on Sept 22 was not a decision to deregister the coalition, but was intended to give it an opportunity to respond to a complaint lodged by Bersatu.
