PETALING JAYA: Applications for postal voting for the 16th Melaka state election are now open and can be made online, says the Election Commission (EC).
EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said this comprises postal voting applications for Categories 1A, 1B and 1C.
Category 1A is for police personnel, army personnel, election workers and officers, EC officers as well as media personnel.
Category 1B meanwhile refers to Malaysians living abroad while 1C refers to agencies and organisations.
He said all postal vote applications must be submitted online at https://myspr.spr.gov.my.
"Eligible voters who intend to cast their ballots by post must register for or have a MySPR account before submitting their applications.
"The closing date for postal vote applications across all categories will be announced at a later date," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 23).

On Tuesday (Sept 22), Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced the dissolution of the Melaka State Assembly, paving the way for the 16th Melaka Election.
He said the dissolution received the consent of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.
The EC has since confirmed receiving official notification of the dissolution and said a special meeting to discuss key dates for the state election would be announced later.
