KANGAR: The Perlis branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has arrested two people for allegedly misappropriating about 300 litres of petrol in a raid on an unnumbered house in Kampung Titi Tinggi Ulu, Padang Besar, on Monday (Sept 21) night.
Its director Rohaida Hassan said a woman in her 40s and a Thai man in his 30s were arrested during the raid at about 8pm following a week-long intelligence operation.
"During the raid, we found that petrol was being transferred from a locally registered Proton Waja into a Toyota Hilux bearing a Thai registration number,” she said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 22).
She said further inspection of the Proton Waja found that its rear fuel tank had been modified, while the Toyota Hilux was also found to have a modified fuel tank underneath the vehicle.
Rohaida said enforcement action was taken under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
"About 300 litres of petrol, worth RM597, were seized, while the total value of the seized items is estimated at RM98,097,” she said. – Bernama
